Har ki dun will be an adventurous trek as its trail paves through some of the villages that are nearly 2,000 years old. It helps you know more about the place and the people who are residing here in this ancient valleys. The natural beauty of this trek is a paradise on earth for the lovers of nature, adventurers and also for the enthusiastic photographers. The different species of birds can be spotted here in this region. You can capture the beauty and breathtaking views on the trail which is a lifetime experience.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 - A thrilling drive from Dehradun to Sankri

    • Your first day of the Har ki Dun trek will start with a 10-hour long drive from Dehradun to Sankri Village. You need to reach the Dehradun Railway Station, or ISBT by 8:00 am. To reach Dehradun on time, you can book an overnight bus or cab from Delhi to Dehradun.
    • We will be Passing through Mussoorie - The Queen of the Hills on to Uttarkashi district; you will cross Naugaon, Purola, Mori, and Netwar before finally reaching village Sankri - The first stop on the trek. The entire route is picturesque with pine trees, and the road runs parallel to the mighty Tons river. We will stop on the way to have lunch somewhere.
    • After reaching Purola, you should make all your important phone calls. After that, the signal becomes weak, and only the BSNL network is available with limited connectivity. Upon reaching Sankri, you can freshen up at the homestay & you will get ample time to explore nearby places and markets.
    • In-case you need last-minute shopping for your trek, such as trekking essentials, garments & equipment, all are available at the Sankri market.

Day 2 - Drive from Sankri to Taluka | Trek from Taluka to Pauni Garaat

    • On the second day, we will drive from Sankri (6,400 feet) to Taluka (7,000 ft.) in the morning. It will be a short drive of 12 km and takes about one hour.
    • On reaching Taluka village, the trekkers will be given refreshments for the hike. You will start your descent to the banks of river Tons, and the trail will enter conifers forest, and you will trek through it until you reach the first cemented bridge.
    • After crossing the river by the bridge, the trail leads up to a wooden bridge where you can fill your water bottles & move further. The trail provides a beautiful setting for clicking photographs. By lunchtime, you will reach the rest point.
    • Moving ahead, the fields of potato, maize, and millets will fall on the way, and soon you will reach your first campsite as the sun begins to dip at Pauni Garaat (8,200 ft.), which is a green meadow at the banks of Supin river. By the end of the day, you accomplished 10 km of the trek, and after having a delicious dinner, you'll stay here in your comfortable swiss camps.

Day 3 - Trek from Pauni Garaat to Kalkattiyadhaar

    • Pauni Garaat (8,200 ft.) to Kalkattiyadhar (9,800 ft.) is about a distance of 7 Km and takes around 6 hours to complete.
    • On the trail, you will cross hydroelectricity run chafing units. The local villagers use these for processing millets and maize by removing the husk from them and grinding them to obtain flour.
    • As you move forward, you will find beautiful views of harvested lands and wooden huts used for storage purposes by the locals. The trail then turns for an ascent from where you can get breathtaking views of the Dhauladhar Range right in front of you.
    • Soon we will be reaching a green stretch of Kalkattiyadhar, which will be our campsite for tonight. We will have a bonfire with some music while camping in meadows overlooking mountains.

Day 4 - Trek from Kalkattiyadhar to Har Ki Dun & back to Kalkattiyadhar

    • Today you will start trekking in the early morning as compared to other days, and you'll be covering a distance of around 10 km. However, the enchanting views were till today, now get ready to encounter something more. The trail will go into the glacier basin, having moraines and alpine meadows.
    • Today's most trail is a mixture of steep and moderate ascend until the Har Ki Dun valley (11,768 ft.). The massive peaks of Swargarohini, Hata Peak, Black Peak, etc., show their marvelling glimpses enroute.
    • After exploring the valley fullest and creating memories for a lifetime, we return to our last campsite at Kalkattiyadhar.

Day 5 - Trek from Kalkattiyadhar to Pauni Garaat via Osla

    • From today the trek is actually the return journey. Today we will retrace the steps through the Osla village to Pauni Garaat. Here's another chance to relive the moments with the peaceful villagers and beautiful meadows around. Say goodbye to them and the stunning sights around you.
    • Follow the same trail as of earlier and reach the campsite of Pauni Garaat. Enjoy your last few moments of nightlife in the mountains.

Day 6 - Trek from Pauni Garaat to Taluka | Drive from Taluka to Sankri

    • A 5-hour trek to Taluka will start in the morning; we will be climbing down by the familiar trail, stopping at the same rest points. The car awaits at the end of the trail to drive back us to Sankri. Climbing down is generally easier than ascending. On reaching Sankri, we will have tea and dinner at the homestay/guesthouse.

Day 7 - Drive from Sankri to Dehradun

    • Today you'll say goodbye to the mountains. Breakfast will be provided in the morning at the guesthouse.
    • The journey will end with a 10-hour drive from Sankri to Dehradun. You'll drop by at Dehradun Railway Station or ISBT Dehradun around 6 pm, suitable for an overnight journey to your respected cities.

    Transfer your trek (same trek, same batch) to your friend. No cash refund.

    • Change of trek batch is dependent on the availability of seats in the batch.
    • In case of transferring a trek to a friend, he/she should satisfy all the mandatory requirements put forward by The seller.
    • The seller holds the right to change/cancel the policies, without prior notice.
    • Any kind of emergency evacuation charges will be paid by the customer.
    • Normally the seller expects to carry your personal luggage on your own, if you wish to offload your backpack, you can give it to Mule. Charges of offloading backpack :-
      • - INR 1500/- if you make an online payment, 10 days in advance.
      • - INR 1800/- if you inform us after reaching Sankri.
      • The backpack cannot weigh more than 11 kgs. The backpack should have a waterproof cover. Suitcases/strolleys/bags will not be allowed.

    • If you don't know much about the place then don't roam around without a guide because mountains are unpredictable.
    • Avoid any kind of anti-religious comments and activity to respect the local religion, local people as well as your batch mates.
    • Carry your identity proofs like Aadhaar card, PAN card, Voter ID etc.
    • Follow the Guidelines issued by the State-Government during your whole journey.
    • Maintain social distancing in all manners.
