Dayara Bugyal Trek is one of the most thrilling, amazing and breath-taking treks of Uttarakhand. The trek stands tall at an elevation of 10 to 12 thousand feet approximately taking us to an elevated high land green lushy meadow.

These meadows extend to over 28 km and, they're an exquisite and perfect destination for skiing and this view is a treat to the eyes for the trekkers. This mesmerizing location is nestled between the snows peaked mountains of dayara bugyal. The trek of dayara bugyal initiates from the tiny place called Barsu which is situated on the Haridwar-Gangotri road spanning over 32 km from Uttarkashi. Trekkers get to watch the snow-covered peaks of Bandarpoonch which is located at an altitude 6316 metres, Bhagirathi peak at the altitude of 6921 metres and Black Peak elevated to the height of 2734 metres.

The splendid pasture uplands of high alpine trees in Uttarakhand is the centre point for many amazing treks in the region. Best season to trek for Dayara Bugyal Trek

In summers April to June is the perfect time to visit the place as the area in the season have a pleasant climate and in winters the month of October to December are perfect for the trek. In summers the weather stays quite mild and it’s neither too cold nor too hot during the summer season. Still, all the trekkers are advised to carry light woollen clothes. Ln Monsoon or rainy season is the most spectacular yet the worse time to go for trekking as the roads get blocked due to flooding traffic and there is a high risk of landslides in this season. Still, the scenic beauty is worth the risk.

In Winters this area of dayara bugyal witnesses heavy snowfall throughout the months of December and January that makes the winter season, the best time to trek here.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 - Reach Barsu

    • Located at the altitude of 7,400 ft. the drive to Barsu is about 200 Km from Dehradun. It's approximately a 7-8 hours’ drive from Dehradun.
    • The drive makes you explore the dense forests and beautiful mountains. Barsu Village will be our base camp for the Dayara Bugyal Trek.
    • Barsu is a little village located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. The trekkers will stay here for the night in camps or guest houses.

Day 2 - Barsu to Barnala Tal

    • The second day will be marked by our journey from Barsu (7,400 ft.) to Barnala Tal located at an altitude of 9,500 ft.
    • We will have our breakfast in the morning and our trek will start early in the morning. Barsu will be the starting point of the trek to Barnala Tal.
    • The trail goes through dense oak forests and is about a 4-5 hours long journey ascending gradually.
    • Our campsite will be near Barnala Tal surrounded by the lush green forests. We will be staying for the night at Barnala Tal in between the tranquillity of nature.

Day 3 - Barnala Tal to Dayara Bugyal Top via Dayara Bugyal and return to Barnala Tal

    • Day 3 will mark the beginning of the trek from Barnala Tal to the top Dayara Bugyal located at 12,100 ft. approximately via Dayara Bugyal located at 11,300 ft.
    • Today will be a quite long and tiring day because the real trek begins here. It is not a very difficult trek and is popular among beginners, and additionally, it takes just a few hours to complete this trek.
    • We will be reaching the top of Dayara Bugyal by the afternoon and will be having our lunch at the top. It takes around 2 - 3 hours to get Dayara Bugyal through a lite steep trail which leads us to the end of the forests where the trekkers can witness the mountains of Bandar Poonch and Kala Nag also known as Black Peak.
    • From this point, it will take about one hour or so to reach the top of Dayara Bugyal.
    • We will be spending some time and enjoying the serenity and tranquillity of nature here and then we will be heading back to Barnala Tal via the same route as we came from. We will go back to our campsite there for the night.

Day 4 - Barnala Tal to Barsu and Driving back to Dehradun

    • The day 4 actually marks the end of our trek and is comparatively much easier than the days before.
    • We will be starting early in the morning after having breakfast by walking our way back to Barsu from Barnala Tal. The trek from here will start to descend gradually through a steep trail.
    • It takes almost about 2-3 hours to trek downwards towards Barsu through dense green forests.
    • You will be getting your transport arranged from Barsu village to Dehradun station.

How To Reach

    • By Road: As Dehradun is well connected with major cities of North India such as New Delhi, Lucknow, Haryana, etc. So you'll easily get transport for Dehradun from these cities. Also, some buses depart from ISBT Kashmiri Gate (Delhi) to Dehradun on a regular basis. The overnight journey might be good.
    • By Train: Dehradun Railway Station is well-connected with major railway stations like New Delhi Railway Station, Lucknow Junction, Kolkata Railway Station, etc. Overnight journey via train would be a great choice.
    • By Air: Jolly Grant Airport is the only Airport in Dehradun. And, it is well connected with daily flights from Delhi.

    • Cancellation by guests Cancelled before 45 days from the trek start date – 70% refund
    • Cancelled before 20 days from the trek start date – 50% refund
    • Cancelled before 10 days from the trek start date – 25% refund
    • No refund for cancellation within 10 days from the trek start date.
    • Cancellation before start date – Due to any foreseen circumstances (natural disasters, strikes, weather conditions, etc.) Seller may cancel the trip. In such cases, the mountain hoppers will refund 50% in cash and issue credit against the rest of 50% to the customer’s Eventskite Wallet which can be used in the future.
    • Cancellation/change after the trip has started – For the safety of guests or reasons mentioned above, an ongoing trip may be cancelled or the itinerary might be changed midway. In such cases, we will try our best to co-operate with you however, no refunds will be made. If the changed itinerary (agreed upon by guests) is longer than the original, extra costs (reasonable) will be borne by guests.
    • In case of cancellation, the mountain hoppers or Eventskite will not be responsible for any incidental expenses, collateral losses, or damages that guests may have incurred while booking the trip (for example Visas fees, flight expenses, etc.)
    •  The mountain hoppers or Eventskite will not be responsible for any change in itinerary because of nature-related causes and the decision of the trek leader for various aspects of the trek will be final (during the trek).
    •  If the trek route alters from the itinerary because of any damage to the route, the mountain hoppers or Eventskite will not be responsible for that.
    • We always urge guests to keep a buffer day for mountain treks for such cases.
    • If any guest has to return from mid-way during a trip/ trek because of medical/ physical or any other concerns not related to The Mountain Hopper or Eventskite, we will not bear the cost of transporting him/ her back to the nearest base camp.
    • Decision a trek leader during the trek will be considered final. 
    • Change of trek batch is dependent on the availability of seats in the batch.
    • In case of transferring a trek to a friend, he/she should satisfy all the mandatory requirements put forward by the mountain hoppers.
    • The mountain hoppers holds the right to change/cancel the policies, without prior notice.
    • Any kind of emergency evacuation charges will be paid by the customer.
    • Normally the seller expects to carry your personal luggage on your own, if you wish to offload your backpack, you can give it to Mule. Charges of offloading backpack: -
      • INR 1500/- if you make an online payment to the the mountain hoppers, 10 days in advance.
      • INR 1800/- if you inform the mountain hoppers after reaching Sankri.
    • The backpack cannot weight more than 11 kg. The backpack should have a waterproof cover. Suitcases/trolleys/bags will not be allowed.
  • Any refund applicable will be processed within 14 business days.
  • Any refund claims need to be done within 15 days of the date of travel

    • Avoid smoking and consumption of alcohol while trekking.
    • Do not disturb local people or animals during trekking.
    • Do not try to harm nature in all terms.
    • Pay attention carefully to the trek guides and instructors so that you can enjoy trekking safely.
    • Do not trek during nights, this might lead to mishappenings.
    • Do not throw plastic bags here and there and try to maintain the decorum of the Himalayas.
    • Never take any medicines without consulting the trek guides.
    • If you don't know much about the place then don't roam around without a guide because mountains are unpredictable.
    • Avoid any kind of anti-religious comments and activity to respect the local religion, local people as well as your batch mates.
    • Carry your identity proofs like Aadhaar card, PAN card, Voter ID etc.
    • Follow the Guidelines issued by the State-Government during your whole journey.
