Located on the beautiful mountain range hinges of Garhwal Himalayas, Har ki dun is one of the most beautiful and popular treks for all nature lovers and trekkers. The trek is quite popular for its other name i.e. hanging valley because the mountains of this valley are cradle shaped.
Har ki dun is a winter trek and you can see snow White Mountain trails in the winter season. The entire region is surrounded by green bugyals and you can see alpine vegetation all along the trek. It is connected to baspa valley by borasu pass.
The valley is about 3566 metres (11700 ft.) Above sea level and is densely covered with snow from October to March. In September the valley is turned to lush green due to the heavy monsoon. You will get a clearer view of all surrounding landscapes and mountains as the air will be clear is this season. By the month of October and November, the lushy green valley’s starts to turn brown until the leaves go golden in colour.

With all that snow around trekkers enjoy playing with the snow, making a snowman and what not. The valley brings the child within you back to life with its tremendous beauty.
You will also be able to visit the temple at Osla built by the natives of saur dedicated to Duryodhana. Its located 13 km from Sankri deep into the mountain trails of Har ki dun. It was made 5000 years ago and has beautifully carved chambers that take us back to the time.
Besides the 6-hour long trekking journey, the Har ki dun trek has an unpredictable challenge that is the rain. The peak time of the year for this trek is winters where you can witness the magnificent white snow. Trekking in the rainy season can be challenging but that is what makes a trek more worthy.
