Description
Kedarnath Dham is considered one of the paramount temples for the worshipers of Lord Shiva. The magnificent shrine is located in the Rudraprayag region of Uttarakhand. There is something magnificent about this holy place as the air too appears to be reverberating with the name of the mighty Lord Shiva. The temple is located amidst the snow-covered peaks of the bounty Himalayas. One can witness the lush green meadows and the dense forest on their way to the shrine. Kedarnath Dham is situated at a height of 3,584 metres amidst the spell bounding location from where the Mandakini River originates. Kedarnath temple celebrates the greatness of the almighty Shiva. It is one of the most important temples among the Panch Kedar, that is, a group of five Shiva temples in the Garhwal region and is also one of the 12 Jyotir Lingams. It is also one of the significant temples of the sacred Char Dhams of Uttarakhand.
The holy shrine is accessible from major destinations of Uttarakhand and the motorable road stretches till Gaurikund on way towards Kedarnath. After reaching Gaurikund, it’s a 14-kilometer trek towards the holy shrine. One can avail of helicopter services during the peak season of Kedarnath yatra. Ponnies and palanquins are also available for the yatra.
The journey appears to be hard but it is worth it as you will be witnessing the divine enchanting beauty of the magnificent shrine. The spiritual atmosphere and the name of lord Shiva enchanted by the worshipers all around will leave you to spell bounded and in tears of joy. The majestic peak of Kedarnath which is about 6930 meters stands exactly behind the Dham making the atmosphere utterly divine.
Detailed Itinerary
Start - Departure From Delhi
- Everyone will be gathering at majnu ka tila Gurudwara, Delhi. Our journey will begin from this point. We will be having dinner at some restaurant and after that, we will start our overnight journey to Guptkashi via Rishikesh.
Day 1 - Reaching Guptkashi
- You will be reaching Rishikesh early in the morning and from there you will be traveling towards Guptkashi. You will be enrooted visit Devprayag and Rudraprayag.
- On your way, you will witness the beautiful river Mandakini at Tilwara. You will be traveling alongside the river to reach Guptkashi.
- You will do local sightseeing on your way towards Guptkashi and visit Ardh Narishwar temple.
- After reaching Guptkashi you will be checking in a hotel/inn and will be staying in Guptkashi overnight after having dinner.
Day 2 - Reaching Kedarnath
- You will have an early morning breakfast in Guptkashi and then will be moving towards sonprayag. After reaching sonprayag, you will be traveling to Gaurikund and it will be the starting point of our 14km long trek.
- You will be witnessing the snow-covered peaks, lush green meadows, and dense forests on your trek towards the shrine.
- Pony/palanquins (doli)/helicopters are also available to reach the shrine. You will bear these expenses on your own.
- You will be reaching Kedarnath late in the evening. You can relax here for a while and have dinner. You will be staying overnight in a lodge/camps/guest house.
Day 3 - Back To Guptkashi
- You will wake up early morning and visit the Kedarnath temple to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.
- The magnificent view of the mountains early in the morning will leave you spellbound.
- You will be trekking down after that towards Guptkashi. You will reach Guptkashi later in the evening and will be staying there overnight. You will be spending your evening time in leisure and exploring Guptkashi.
Day 4 - Having Dinner in Rishikesh And Back To Delhi
- You will be waking up today to the cold breeze of the mighty Himalayas and spending the lazy morning in this serene environment.
- After having breakfast you will be traveling back towards Rishikesh. You will be taking a pit stop in Rishikesh and visiting ram/Laxman jhula if time permits.
- After having dinner in Rishikesh you will be traveling back to Delhi.
End - Trip ends here at Delhi
- You will be reaching Delhi at around 7 in the morning with blessings of Lord Shiva and memories that will last forever.
